Kindle comes top in the battle of Telecoms and Technology brands, achieving the highest perception score in the sector for the second year running. The e-reader is ranked eighth overall for Buzz score in the US, and according to Amazon, the Kindle Fire HD is the #1 selling product across Amazon worldwide. Kindle ranked #3 in YouGov’s “must have” gifts list for the 2012 holiday season.
Consumer perception for BlackBerry is the highest it has been in two years, and the smartphone brand is the biggest improver in the sector with a Buzz boost of 7.3 from January. The long-awaited BlackBerry Z10 received largely positive reviews, and BlackBerry ran its first ever ad during the Super Bowl, which appears to have helped drive its consumer perception.
These brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Buzz score which asks respondents, “If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?”
The Buzz Rankings chart shows the brands with the highest average Buzz scores between January and June 2013. The Buzz Improvers chart ranks the brands with the highest increase in Buzz between January to June 2013 and January to June 2012. Both scores are representative of the general population.
All Buzz scores listed have been rounded to a single decimal place, however, we have used additional precision to assign ranks.
