2013 - Global Mid-Year Review

2013 - Mid Year Rankings: US Airlines

Southwest is soaring above its rivals in the Airlines sector, with a Buzz lead of 18.3 ahead of budget airline JetBlue’s 4.3 points. Southwest recently made the most of its position as America’s largest domestic airline in a series of commercials aired from March 2013 telling the airline’s history since it began in the 1970s. It also topped the list in 2012.

American Airlines and US Airways topped the list of biggest improvers so far in 2013 – a possible outcome of consumers responding to the proposed merger of the two airlines. American Airlines leads the improvers pack with a Buzz rise of 11.4 vs. the same period last year, bringing it out of negative perception. American has been on an upward trajectory this year, posting its best-ever Q1 profit since 2000.
