2013 - Annual Rankings: US Insurance

Top Buzz ranked insurance company Geico received nearly two million views for its most viral commercial yet. "Hump Day" stacked up the views and sharing figures spiked every Wednesday - long known as the hump day in the middle of the working week.

Second ranked brand State Farm has doing interesting things with SeatGeek to identify up and coming bands in an attempt to transform itself into insurer of choice for 20-somethings.

Top Buzz improver AIG started the year badly but they recovered to take top spot. AIG launched their "Thank You America" campaign a week before it was announced that they were considering joining a lawsuit against the federal government, claiming that shareholders didn't receive fair compensation during the bail out. AIG decided against joining the lawsuit.

These brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Buzz score which asks respondents, "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?"

The Buzz Rankings chart shows the brands with the highest average Buzz scores between January and December 2013. The Buzz Improvers chart ranks the brands with the highest increase in Buzz between Jan-Dec 2013 and the same period in 2012. Both scores are representative of the general population.
