2012 - UK Top Index Rankings

YouGov’s BrandIndex Index Rankings compare BrandIndex Index scores for over 850 brands in 34 categories, to reveal the UK brands with the best overall brand health in 2012 so far.

All of the brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Index score, which is an overall brand health measure – an average of the six measures of brand’s health: Impression, Quality, Value, Satisfaction, Advocacy and Reputation. BrandIndex interviews 2,000 nationally representative respondents daily.

Amazon, Google and BBC iPlayer have managed to beat over 850 brands in order to become the most highly-rated brands in the UK. Amazon is the top-ranked brand for 2012; heading up the overall Index and overtaking Google for the first time. BBC iPlayer has shown significant increases from last year’s rankings to move up to third place.
The ranking includes five retailers (Amazon, M&S, John Lewis, Sainsbury’s & Boots),two technology leaders (Google and Sony (with Apple noticeably absent) and two FMCG companies (Heinz and Cadbury).

Methodology: 

All of the brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Index score, which is an overall brand health measure – an average of the six measures of brand’s health: Impression, Quality, Value, Satisfaction, Advocacy and Reputation. BrandIndex interviews 2,000 nationally representative respondents daily.

The BrandIndex Rankings chart shows the brands with the highest average Index scores between January and June 2012.

The Index improvers chart ranks the brands with the highest increase in Index between January and June 2012, and the same period in 2011. Both scores are representative of the general population.

All Index scores listed have been rounded to a single decimal place, however, we have used additional precision to assign ranks.
