Welcome to YouGov’s 2012 Mid-Year BrandIndex Buzz rankings. The rankings compare BrandIndex Buzz scores for over 500 brands in 20 categories to reveal the UAE brands with the most positive Buzz for 2012 so far. All of the brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Buzz score, which asks respondents: ‘If you’ve heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?’
Emirates Airlines is the top-ranked brand in the mid-year rankings, heading up the overall Buzz list. The brand has managed to retain its position at the head of the table, which it first achieved in 2011. Meanwhile, Dettol - who have launched a range of new products and improved their marketing and communications strategy - has surged from 11thposition, at the end of 2011, to second position, replacing Carrefour who have slipped out of the top ten.
With the real estate market showing signs of improvement; Emaar has managed to improve their noise in the market moving into fifth position on the Buzz improvers list and simultaneously entering the top ten Buzz rankings list in the number 8 spot.
These brands were rated using YouGov BrandIndex’s Buzz score which asks respondents, "If you've heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, was it positive or negative?"
The Buzz Rankings chart shows the brands with the highest average Buzz scores between January and June 2012. The Buzz improvers chart ranks the brands with the highest increase in Buzz between Jan - June 2012 and the same period in 2011. Both scores are representative of this segment.
All Buzz scores listed have been rounded to a single decimal place, however, we have used additional precision to assign ranks.
