Once again, Google and its subsidiary YouTube dominate the global rankings. YouTube appears in the top ten for buzz rankings in eighteen markets, compared to only sixteen last year, while Google holds strong at 15 markets, the same as the company saw in 2016.
In the social media sector, Facebook and WhatsApp continue to rank highly across several markets. This year, Facebook placed in the top ten in eleven markets and WhatsApp placed in ten markets.
Continuing its streak from last year, Netflix can be found on the top ten rankings lists for nine of our tracked markets.
Samsung made it onto eleven market lists, while Apple made it into the top ten for seven markets. However, the Apple iPhone held strong in seven markets while the Samsung Galaxy reached three.
Travel sites made an impact across this year’s global rankings with Trivago reaching the top ten for seven regions and making the list in four regions.
