Moneysupermarket.com Plans Even More Advertising

Date Posted: 14 August 2008

Moneysupermarket.com, the UK price comparison website, has increased its’ advertising spend during the last few years. Last year, the firm spent £35m on search engine advertising and at present, accounts for 3.6% of Google’s total UK revenues according to analysts at Numis Securities.

Television advertising spend however, remains stable at £18m. CEO Simon Nixon recently noted that he was looking to increase newspaper advertisements to enhance brand awareness, or as he put it, ‘building the brand offline’.

On BrandIndex, the brands’ ‘Buzz’ score was fairly consistent in July 2008, with the exception of a 7% fall that occurred on the 5th of July.

Moneysupermarket.com saw its ‘Buzz’ score recover quickly to 11% in the middle of July, which then increased further to 16% by the beginning of August. It appears that the brand is already achieving its’ CEO’s desire as the mindshare (bottom chart) has seen an increasing trend overtime, suggesting that brand awareness is improving.

BrandIndex will continue to track the price comparison website ongoing.
