BT, the UK’s largest communications services provider, revealed the latest episode in the ongoing ‘ad-opera’ featuring fictional couple Adam and Jane. The ad premiered on UK TV screens on March 2 and showed heavily pregnant Jane, who is planning her wedding, go into early labour bringing her wedding preparations to a dramatic halt.
UK TV viewers are being asked for their help in planning ‘the other big wedding ‘of the year by taking part in a Facebook poll to choose the dress, car and first dance for Adam and Jane. The results will be aired in April to coincide with the Royal Wedding, and offers the chance for two viewers to star in the BT ad as wedding guests.
The Adam and Jane storyline, staring TV actors Kris Marshall and Esther Hall, first appeared on UK TV screens in 2005, and it appears that time has done very little to dampen punters enthusiasm as the next chapter in the couples lives is revealed and put to the public vote. In August last year, 1.6 million people took part in the Facebook vote, which decided Jane was pregnant.
Pre-campaign Buzz levels for BT stood at -3.6 points on March 1, with the interactive ad campaign boosting scores for the brand by 11.7 points to 8.1 points just over two weeks later on March 16.
As the wedding date draws nearer, let’s hope that neither the couple nor the public get cold feet and Buzz scores continue to rise for the brand!
