Amazon and Target retained the top two US national retailers spots with the best value perception by consumers leading into Black Friday.
Two notable beleaguered retail brands, J.C. Penney and Best Buy, are still in the top 10 list, but in lower positions than last year.
Both Wal-Mart and Kohl’s leaped ahead of JC Penney, which held third place last year, but is now down in fifth position.
Best Buy dropped from fifth place last year to the number eight spot, behind Old Navy (which jumped three spots to number six), eBay (in seventh place both years), and JC Penney in fifth.
A Gap Inc. triumvirate - Old Navy along with Banana Republic and Gap - make up the top three Value improvers since this time last year.
The top national holiday retailers were measured with YouGov BrandIndex’s Value score, which asks respondents: "Does it give good value for what you pay?" Results were filtered for respondents age 18 and over.
